The lid should not need a shovel
On most older tanks around Jacksonville the access lid sits a foot or more below the lawn. Every pump-out starts with locating it and digging it out, and every inspection ends with burying it again. A riser fixes that permanently: a sealed column from the tank lid to grade, with a locking cover that sits flush with the grass.

How tall is a riser?
As tall as the tank is deep, so the lid finishes flush with grade. Most are between one and two feet.
Can a riser be added to any tank?
To almost any concrete or polyethylene tank with an intact lid. It is sealed to the tank so nothing gets in around it.
Is the lid safe to walk over?
Yes. The cover is rated for foot traffic and locks. It is not rated for a vehicle, and neither is the tank under it.
