Septic tank pump out in Ponte Vedra under the landscaping

Ponte Vedra's remaining tanks sit under expensive landscaping, and a pump out here is planned so the hose, the truck and the lid do the least damage to it.

What changes in Ponte Vedra

A pump truck, a hose and an open lid are not what a Ponte Vedra garden was designed for, and Call Flamingo plans around it: where the truck stands, how the hose is routed across the beds, and a riser fitted at grade so the next visit does not mean digging through the sod. The pumping itself is the standard one, with levels read before the tank is emptied and the outlet watched.

Irrigation over the field is the recurring finding on these lots, and it is said, because a landscape system watering the trenches nightly is the commonest reason a field here stays wet.

How the job runs

What a pump out includes

The tank is located and the lid uncovered. Water level, sludge depth and scum depth are measured before anything is removed, because those numbers set the next service date. The tank is pumped with the sludge broken up at the bottom rather than skimmed. The outlet is watched for backflow while the tank is down, which is the one moment the drain field's condition is visible. The inlet baffle, outlet baffle and partition wall are inspected while the tank is empty. Findings are reported, the next date is set from what was measured, and a riser is offered where the lid was buried.

Straight answers

Septic Tank Pump Out questions from Ponte Vedra

Will the pump out damage the garden?

It is planned so it does not: truck in the drive, hose routed, and a riser so nobody digs next time.

Why is the field wet with no backup?

Usually the sprinklers. A field watered every night never dries out.
